Stories of us

“For we live with those retrievals from childhood
that coalesce and echo throughout our lives,
the way shattered pieces of glass
in a kaleidoscope reappear in new forms and are
songlike in their refrains and rhymes,
making up a single monologue.

We live permanently in the recurrence of our own stories,
whatever story we tell.”
~ Michael Ondaatje

Dream of dreams

The night dropped down
like a blanket to hide in
and so the adventure begins
as children with the cat in tow...

May the night showers grace on
all living creatures within her
dream of dreams...

It's that time of the year when the cats of CatmaSutra come out to play! Bright, quirky, and capable of levitation, the seventh installation of catmaSuta cat art exhibition is once again back at Utterly Art. The seven year itch has only served to cook up more mischief as the catmaSutra cat takes you to that sweet spot of whimsical bliss and light-heartedness.

"If we stop and observe how life flows, we'll notice how the universe is made up of individual moments which when appreciated fully, gains a shape akin to a smile from the heart - a personal heaven." Paul's paintings take his audience through these moments using the cat as the perfect allegory to create a personal space that tugs at the heartstrings!

Come check out some of the available catmaSutra collectibles and smile-getters (2012 catmaSutra calendar cards, tile coasters and keepsake boxes), the purr-fect gifts this festive season.

Rainy days with Totoro

if you can see beauty even when it’s not pretty, every day,and if you can source your own life from its presence… If you can be alone with yourself and if you truly like the company you keep in the empty moments, you will never be alone…

What the World needs...

Saw the city from above… lights flickering like stars. The lights are alive, indicative of lives in the city; at the same time, it’s like a tiny cell in the body, each sustaining itself unaware of the view from above. Millions of cells come together, and a radiant design unfolds into a rarefied constellation of stars. Yet, individually we do not know what to do with ourselves. The busyness of life wear us down into a tiny flicker of light consumed by consumption. The urban city has no regard for the rhythm of life; it is relentless in keeping us earth bound, our wings clipped, unable to fly or dream. If the light in my eyes fade, then my life would have been in vain.

“Don’t ask what the world needs.
Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it.
Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”
~ Howard Thurman

The Milk

In gratitude, I present you this offering of cookies and milk.
If you want me to eat them for you, give me no sign.
Thy will be done." ~ Homer Simpson

Oh, there are so many lives... How we wish we could live them
concurrently instead of one by one by one.
We could select the best pieces of each, stringing them
together like a strand of pearls. But that's not
how it works. A human's life is
a beautiful mess."
~ Gabrielle Zevin

"Work is about a search for daily meaning as well as daily bread, for recognition as well as cash, for astonishment rather than torpor; in short, for a sort of life rather than a Monday through Friday sort of dying." ~ Studs Terkel

Super Cute Cat Art iPhone 4 cover!

Get it now exclusively at

This is one of a set of catmaSutra paintings entitled "See-no-evil"  or Morning Cat. As you would have guessed, part 2 and 3 (hear-no-evil {afternoon cat}, and "speak-no-evil"{evening cat}) will soon follow. The design is also available for iPhone 4, iPhone 3, iTouch 2, iTouch4. I'll probably add in the iPad versions as well so stay tuned!

Here's the natural inspiration of the above painting - Halo doing her "See-No-Evil" stance. I think we can learn a lot from a cat, the way it stretches, the way it seems to live its life. Maybe it's a way of slowing things down as per lifespan, they age much faster than we do; but everything is relative, if we don't take time out to enjoy stretching and doing nothing once in a while, we may indeed live to regret it!

Fantasy, the escape route...

Fantasy is escapist, and that is its glory.
If a soldier is imprisoned by the enemy,
don't we consider it his duty to escape?
. . .
If we value the freedom of mind and soul,
if we're partisans of liberty, then it's our plain duty to escape,
and to take as many people with us as we can!
~ J.R.R. Tolkien

If you really wanna learn something,
you have to do so by feeling.
That's the fuel of life.

"Living well is an art that can be developed:
a love of life and ability to take great pleasure from small offerings
and assurance that the world owes you nothing
and that every gift is exactly that, a gift. "
~Maya Angelou
